Stop Plastic Trends & Overconsumption!

Can We Stop Mass Producing Plastic Trends? Can We Please Stop Over Consuming As a Society?

As a society we have become obsessed with trends and micro trends. What’s the latest craze you can remember flooding your for you page, specific brand deals being handed out, gift cards for shopping sprees? Influencers are constantly doing huge hauls of fast fashion and makeup brands, things like stanley cups are produced in mass and then thrown out the next month for the newest water bottle. Things come and go so fast now since trends are ever changing and what brands are trendy never stay consistent. It’s almost a trend in itself. Having people constantly over consuming random stuff and clothes, then throwing them out once the trend is dead, causes landfills to overflow, charities and thrift stores to be overfilled and not be able to take donations. Not to mention products are made with cheaper and cheaper materials and quality every year.

I’ve seen this as a problem for years, and as I’ve gotten older it has sunk in more. The more people buy, the more that is mass produced by factories, and the more pollution is put into the air. We do NOT need this much stuff! We shouldn’t be constantly making more products than can be used or consumed in a single person’s lifetime! Constantly manufacturing new things is horrible for the environment, during its production and after its trend or use has passed. We should be using products until they are gone, using clothes and accessories until they fall apart or no longer fit us. Society needs to stop overbuying and causing a demand for over production. Stop the micro trends, stop the useless brand hauls, stop flooding our thrift stores and landfills…please!
